Gerald Themba Dumas boasts a career span of over 41 years, with about 15 of them spent in the public sector. He has served as Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of a water utility and as the Chief Operations Officer in the City of Johannesburg.

While with the City, Mr Dumas acted as Group Financial Officer for six months and as Executive Director of Revenue and Customer Relations Management for about the same period. He led the team that the municipality tasked with establishing its broadband company and acted as its CEO.

In the private sector, he served as Senior Technical Officer and Area Superintendent at AECI for ten years and as General Manager at National Sorghum Breweries for an equal period.

Mr Dumas is a BSc and MBA graduate.

He is semi-retired and is a part-time lecturer at the University of Witwatersrand’s School of Governance and MD of a consulting company, Nethezeka Management Solutions, formed in 2017. He is the Chairperson of both the Market Theatre Foundation and the Trans-Caledon Tunnel Authority.
